- ACS Powder can be used to modify third-degree creosote by converting it into a more brittle state that has a different expansion/contraction rate than the flue it is attached to. During heating and cooling cycles, this creosote cleaner causes the black creosote to lose its adhesive properties, making the creosote removal process much easier. Creosote and soot build-up in fireplaces or wood stove chimneys can be a fire hazard if it is not properly cleaned and maintained. Remove creosote before it builds up and becomes a fire hazard.
